Before I go out and purchase all the 2x4's - does anyone for see a problem with making "pond" esentially, and turning it into a sump?

Reason I ask is in searching this site, I have not seen a build where they drilled into the pond liner?!

The sump is only going to be 8x2x2, thus will not be a complicated build. I will replicate this style of skeleton - http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204988&highlight=pond+liner

I do not plan on gluing the liner to the side or anything of that nature. I will secure the liner at the top by sandwiching it between the top 2x.4's.

Am I ok to go?

If your meaning has anyone made a sump that large...sure and I've made several.

There have been several builds where the owner pierced the liner and installed a bulkhead fitting (I think a weir too). Just support the fitting so there is no stress on the liner. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86573&highlight=bulkhead+pond+liner for one.

Is this going indoors or out?

Above ground?

It depends on what your going to use for media as to how much 200ish gallons (240g but it won't be filled to the brim) can support.

Let us know the above and we can go from here.
