I am starting the saltwater world. I know nothing about making sumps besides what Ive read and saw people make. So I'm planning on making a sump filter. Here is my plan drawn out. The main tank is 30 gallons. The sump will be 20 gallon. I don't want to use glass for the chamber seperates I want to use something plastic I can remove(but idk what to use any ideas?) I'm wondering if I will need a heater for the sump and the tank or if the one is sump is all i will need heater wise. I dont know what to get for the pumps to run the water bck and out of the tank. I don't want to drill the main tank either So I will use pvc pipe to run the cleaned water to the 30 gallon main tank and out of it. Anymore help on this will be gr8t

1. Check out the DIY Overflow sticky to work on getting water from the tank to the sump.

2. As far as dividers, you can use acrylic, but your filtration will lose efficiency if you do not seal the dividers in.

3. You will probably only need a 75W heater or so.

4. figure out the flow rate that you will need and buy a pump to fit this. Make sure you account for head height when looking for pumps.
