Inside a Bottle
I want to paint the back of my tank black.. Any idea what paint i should use.. Can i use oil paint ? How long would i have to wait before i use the tank ?

Thanks in advance...

Hey Weylin,

I was told regular latex paint is fine. Roll on the outside of the back of your aquarium. The key is to make sure to thoroughly clean the glass before painting with isopropyl alcohol.

any latex enamel will do just fine. tape off edges, brush on a coat or two as per instructions on the can/bottle. I would highly recommend Odds n' ends Enamel from Plastikote. One coat is opaque whereas the krylon equivalent needed 2-3 coats to be opaque.

I'm pretty sure any of the paints for platic work fairly well for the inside of the tank. Krylon Fusion is known to be good, same with Rust-Oleums paint for platic. I recently mainted the inside of my antique 50 and I will warn you now, do a very careful job of taping before you paint because once it's done you are stuck with it unless you want a ton of work. Also, allow the paint to cure for the full 5-7 days that is recommended on the cans, filling too early can result in leeching and or one foul odor from yuor tank. Fusion paints over silicon just fine as well.. Hope the info helped.

Anyone ever painted the intake strainer with fusion? Did it chip over time?
