I finally made my own tank separator and split my 90g in half. I took some plastic form of plexi glass from lowes and they cut it. It is not a perfect fit (maybe 1/4" space on each sides) but i wedged it down in the gravel and put suction cups to secure the top! Also I drilled little holes through the divider and washed it off before putting it in the tank. I did this to give my gar a smaller home while he is a baby. I have a belly crawler on the other side. My question is... the filter and heater are on the right side of the tank with the belly crawler, the gar is alone on the left, is he receiving enough filtration/air/heat? or do I need to move the filter to his side of the separator?

I have found eggcrate (that you'll find in the lighting department at the home improvements store) to be an excellent tank divider. Water flow, temperature etc is not a concern seems the eggcrate is basically one inch squares.

X2, i use the ones with smaller squares though

This is what I use as well. It works great but since you already have yours made that doesn't really help you...

I had a diy divider made the same way as the mod, I just made sure the intake of the filter was on the opposite side of the spray bar, this way it is more certain to circulate.

about 5/8 inch eggcrate holes. but I did the plexiglass thing and store-bought divider for small tank before reading about eggcrate online. it gets way better water circulation. I'm learning to google first
