newbie to the forum, hello everyone!!!!

getting plans for large diy tank together, this forum is very helpful.
i have one silly question about filtration, will pond equipment like the Biotec 5.1 and 10.1 Biological Filters work on large tanks..

all advice welcome

thanks

Welcome to MFK. I am not familiar with the filters you had mentioned, but you can make most pond filters work in the large home aquarium. If it has biological and mechanical filtration, it should do the trick. I have noticed that a lot of pond filters do come with a pump, so that would be one of the decisions you would have to make. (what kind of pump- in tank or out of tank__were to put the pump- before the filter or after) I'm sure other people have better answers to your Q's, so stick around a browse the forum.

At that size you can use a sump, a few gallons of mechanical filtration (pads) and a pair of midsized fluidized bed sand bed filters like those made by Pentair.
