My tank is in my basement where I have no sink or bathroom. I do have water lines both hot and cold running close to the tank. I would like to run those line to a faucet mounted above my tank so I can just turn and fill. My question is about taking the chlourine out of the water. What would be the easiest way to accomplish this. Im not familiar with the r/o units but I dont think you can just run 40/50 gal of water right through them. Do they make a filter just for chlourine and where would it go? Before the faucet in the water line or attached to the faucet as it comes out? How many gallons would the filter be good for?Or should I not worry about it and just dose the tank for the amount of water being put back in.

how many gals is it? i usually jus turn off the filters, refil the tank, dose the tank, then turn the filters back on after.

I would set up a storage (like a garbage can or rubbermaid containers by the tank) fill that and get an air stone in there. Letting the airstone run will get the chlorine out of the water
(if you treat it with anything you can also dump that in, you can throw in a heater if you want); then just pump it in to your aquarium <<<small pump or even a powerhead with some tubing can do the trick.

But I wouldn't just put a faucet over the tank and let it rip 50 gallons in.

If you have a faucet right on top of your fish tank i would just use the water from there then add dechlorinator whenever. Only problem is you have to make sure the water coming in matches. Since you said you had a hot/cold line you could link em up.

just turn the faucet on, match the tank temp quickly, and then add dechlorinator straight to the tank. its the exact same thing as using a python. only do this on a fw tank though.
