DIY Ultimate sponge filter, PPI Question

Hello all,

I am planning on making my own sponge filter for a fry tank and was wondering on the PPI of the foam. I figure that the 10 or 20 PPI would be better for beneficial bacteria because the water would flow faster through it how ever i was also wondering if stacking so other 30+ PPI foam on top of it would be possible to help with cleaning the smaller particles of the water and keep it clear.

any Petsmart/Petco will have the foam. I know Rena foam is available in 10, 20 or 30ppi...
