I have a mud turtle in my 125 gallon tank with my fish, but I'm getting a 40+ gallon tank tonight (36" x 12" x 22") that I'm going to build into a vivarium. I've never built a vivarium, and honestly I haven't put much thought into layout yet. Any clever ideas on that would be great, but my big question is what kind of plants should I put in here? Or should I even have plants? I'm quite fond of flora, so I'd like some. Should I do aquatic plants? Terrestrial? Both? Also, as fond of plants as I am, I'm not very familiar with them. What would be good plants for this project?
