Cost comparisons?
I'm new here and don't know where to start, there are a lot of different threads I could look at.
In my eyes it seems like constructing your own aquarium would cost a lot less than buying one, but I've never made or bought a huge aquarium.

Thanks in advance!

Depends on dimensions and materials. Do you a general idea of what you want?

I just had an idea to turn this bunk-bed into a stand, if I replaced the wood panels on the bottom bunk with something more sturdy it might be able to hold an aquarium that big?
it's about 6ft long, 3ft tall, 3 feet from front to back.

By removing the top bunk I would have a ladder to make it easier to go up and fix anything in the tank.
And if I had a sump it could be below in pull out drawers where clothes or other things might go.

Or am I just crazy for thinking this could actually happen? To me it seems like a good set-up

Seems like an interesting idea, although you might have to do a good bit of reinforcing at which point it may be easier just to build from scratch instead of trying to convert the bed
