I am in the process of putting together a DIY water changer much like uarujoey's on YouTube. I ordered the python adapter, bought 50' garden hose, and will clamp my siphon from my gravel vac onto the end. I also thought about doing an in-line water dechlorinator by using a 2" PVC tube filled with bags of carbon, however, if I have that in the middle of my hose, will I lose a lot of suction? Anyone try the in line dechlorinator before?

This is the one I built, the faucet adaptor was about $10, the hose was maybe $0.15/FT, and I already had the gravel vac, it works pretty well since I use it to drain into my front yard and then fill from the sink.

you will lose almost all suction. Its not that powerful to begin with. Just enough to do the job it was intended to do.
