Hello i have a 125 gallon fish tank with 2 Oscars, pleco, blood parrot, bala shark, and a tinfoil barb. as you can see there is alot of waste to be cleaned. my water tends to get really smelly and dirty. i currently have 2 sponge filter and 2 biological filter 1 cover 60 gals another covering 75. my tank dimension is about 19" in height and is 59"X18". with a storage place about 22" high. i already have a hole in the back of the tank which is about 2 inches wide which is currently covered by a pvc foam plastic piece with silicon. i was thinking of making a wet dry filter since i already have a hole.what do you guys think? however i do not have any knowledge whats so ever on how to make a filter. please give me some information on how to do this. visuals and pictures would be preferable.

Skip the Wet Dry. Get a Bulk head and a Hose Barb. Set yourself up with a Nice Canister. Say an Eheim Classic, or a Fluval FX5... It seems you have enough room underneath and Trust me you won't be dissapointed...

FX5 w/ media can be found on the net for $200-260. CL is always a crapshoot but bargains can be found... Sump or Canister either way your going to be spending a bit of money...

Canister + Media = $$$$

Sump + Media + Pump + Plumbing = $$$$

For Eheim I like the Eheim 2260, 2262, 2217, and ProIII. BUT for my $ I would personally get a Fluval FX5. Fill it with Seachem Matrix and Seachem De-Nitrate. and a Liter of Purigen in a Media Bag.
