I am going to turn my old 20 gallon tank into a wet dry filter, I have everything that I need to make this happen except for the wet dry components. I need to know where I can buy the egg crate for the bottom of the bio section and what to use to sit it on and get it off the bottom of the tank? I am also wondering where to buy a piece of acrylic to use to seperate the two sections of the tank?

home depot sells everything you need just use pvc or extra egg crate to support it

yep.

Thanks guys, one more question (I wont say last cause I am about positive it wont be haha), how do you get the acrylic cut to size?

i did with a sharp pocket knife

So I am assuming that I dont need the thickest stuff they have. I think that I am overthinking this project. Thanks for the speedy replies!

I believe you would need 1/4" plexi, and home depot should be able to cut the piece you need.

Home Depot plexi glass is a "No! No!" Don't ever use that to for an aqarium!

Unless I'm wrong, please tell me so.. I've heard that these acrylic from there aren't cell-cast acrylic. (they are no good for fishes)

What are the dimensions of the aquarium you are putting this on? Basically, just making sure you won't have a wet mess on your hands down the road.

Cell Cast Acrylic is much stronger and more clear than Extruded Acrylic. Both can be used in the aquaria hobby. Its just the Cell Cast is what you want to use if you are building a tank or for something that needs to handle a lot of stress. If you are using it for dividers in a sump, I wouldn't worry.

It is going to be tough and unreliable to use acrylic with glass tanks, unless your 20 gal is acrylic. Silicone will not stick to acrylic. There are adhesives out there, I think WeldOn has some products that can put those two together.
