Hi,
Im in the process of building a wet/dry filter, but I can't find those scrubbie things that I see used for the bio media in all those DIY articles and videos.
I was looking for them at the dollar store when I came across one of those pool noodle floating things. They are made of a very porous hard foam. I was thinking about getting one and cutting it up to be used in place of the scrubbies or bio balls. It would def hold tons of bacteria.
Do you all think this could work? I hope so, cuz each 3-4 foot piece is only a dollar.
Thanks for looking.

Yah the water noodle things are closed cell and water would not flow through them. I would suggest PMing Zennzzo he charges $2 for 10. Also, you can get them 6 for $1 at family dollar.

Although zennzzo's are more expensive and you get charged for shipping, you support a fellow MFKer and you can get a bunch of them. I can only get about 3-4 packs at a time at my local family dollar because they do not stock them heavily.

Ok, what do you all think about easter grass? I saw it today and read that some other people had tried it, those posts were really old though.

I mean, the grass is plastic so it wont break down, I just cant think how to incorportate it into a wet/dry.

This might be stupid, but IM just brainstorming...

Thanks
