Thinking about picking up some blood parrots off of craigslist but Ive seen some that lost most of their orange color and look white-ish. Is that normal for an old blood parrot or a sign that they were low quality ones that may not have faded to their bright orange.

Not knowng any better...my wife bought me a jelly bean parrot 6 years ago..it lost its dyed color within the first 6 months. Its now a light pink to white color...I have had it for a while, but has always looked kinda washed out.

Maybe those that I'm seeing on craigslist were dyed.

Thanks Chris but I didn't see the answer in that thread.

i have had my BP for a long while and it has always been like a pink with a creamy pink whitish color covering the under body up to the bottom of the gills. i have posted pic of mine just the other day so if u want to take a look.

This should give you some thoughts, here are my kids now they are in my 2500g pond. They still have same or darker red/orange color :)

Nice. Where did you buy yours?

That would suck if Petsmart did inject hormones. That's the only place I know that sells decent sized BPs.
