Do all Fei Feng (Flagtails) stop eating algae when they get bigger?

I used to have a 12" Fei Feng but he never ate the algae from my tank. Some friends have also told me that their big Fei Fengs won't eat algae at all. I've also owned some small 3" Fei Fengs and they loved to eat algae from the glass.

Do all Fei Fengs quit eating algae when they get big? I always thought they needed some vegetable matter in their diets for their whole lives and they would always eat algae.

My 11 inch guy still eats algae I give him wafers twice and week and Nls which he eats off the top or bottom of the tank.

Perhaps there is too much excess food in the tank that the FF doesn't need to eat the algae?
