Got a small turquoise severum months ago that was around 2.5-3 inch, it was a dull dark greyesh color and I thought it hasn't fully colored up yet. Fast forward today, its nearly four inches, its a darker bluish green color but it anal fin didn't turn orange like some of the variety I've seen online. Its sort of a dark lemon yellow color.

Its the lack of orange just means my severum still hasn't fully develop its color on its fin yet, or is their some variety of these fish where its fin stays never turns orange?

how long have you had it? and do you just have the one severum? and
turquoise will get some red, it depends on if theyre in the mood to display it or not, gender plays a role, dominant individuals tend to get more red and stay colored up longer

EDIT: some varieties will generate more red than others, with some being almost non existent, its just a matter of time to determine if you have a severum that is strongly expressing that gene sequence

I have just one male for about 4 months, mix in a tank with other central and south american cichlids. He isn't the most dominant but not shy either, he usually hover around somewhere in the open area of the tank, occassionally fending off a female convict that tries to pick a fight with him.

yea as he grows up and eats good food hes gonna start coloring up, hes still pretty young too
i kept 1 pair for a bit with some dithers and they both mostly stayed blue but there was always reds on the trailing edges of the fins, i think as they are younger they keep that lighter coloration, almost like sandy gravel, and its really cool to see them get more blue
