about a year ago, I used to keep some head and tail light tetras and when an insect fell in they would rip it apart like piranhas, then I came across this, look at the lil chompersImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1356270659.687330.jpg
So do all tetras have teeth? If they do I'm gonna go pick up some larger ones (2.5+ inches)

Yes they do. I have a 2.5" Buenos aires tetra and it rips through shrimp and smelt like a piranha ;)

I remember Seeing this in another thread, here's a mexican tetra Astyanax maxicanus they're the same thing as a blind cave tetra except these are the surface version ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1356273633.938213.jpg
They just look like any old tetra, until you move the lips out the wayImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1356273764.024932.jpg
They grow about 4 inches long and have some big teeth, never seen them for sale here in the UK though

Buenos aires tetras actually look very similar to those.

Yes they all do. Piranha are actually large tetras.
My astyanax bimaculatus are around 6" and have some decent sized teeth. It's hard to get a pic because they move so fast.

i've wondered this as well...do they all have small teeth?

All tetras have teeth. MOST of them actually have very impressive teeth, even the ones that you wouldn't expect to have teeth. My PTC has teeth nearly as impressive as a tiger fish's teeth, the main difference is that the PTC's teeth are covered by lips. Most tetras, like the PTC, have teeth covered by lips.

The bottom picture is an Exodon Tetra. Similar to Piranhas so I dont know if it counts.

My black skirts have teeth that shock people with as similar as they look to piranhas. I had a school of Buenos aires that ate an introduced school of glow lights like they were little piranhas
