My two scobinas hide in the sand, they come out for food and sometimes to wander about but they seem to hide some of the time, is this normal? are they just being rays? I was told that scobinas are very active and these guys are but its its wierd. the first couple weeks they were out and about most of the time and weren't afraid of me. Now they are afraid of me and if i approach the tank too fast they hide. i dont know what to think of it and i dont have any experience with them. any look into the life of a baby ray would be great!

probably normal, it seems new ray will hide most of the time when new to the tank, give them a few months and that should stop, and they should swim most of the time, they may occasionally bury there self.

I would just give them time, I have 5 colormax fluorescent bulbs and the lights don't bother them.

How long have they been in your tank? Like others have said, they take a little time to adjust. My motoros hid a lot when they were new a few months back, now I never see them under the sand.
