Where ever i'm at!
I have a 150 gallon glass with no background. I have moved several fish from that tank to a 60 gallon acrylic tank with a blue background. Every fish that I moved into the acrylic tank with the blue back has totally freaked out. Hiding, smashing into everything, total freak out. It seems that it mostly happens when I enter the room, the tanks are not in the same rooms. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any ideas why this is happening?

proximity to other tanks mates and reduced territory will make fish act that way. is this a temporary move?

edit: it also could be them no longer trusting you after being netted. Is this the first time you've moved them since you got them?

yes to only moving them once. Water quality is the same, perfect. Here is an example. My Severums layed eggs in my 150. They ate them right away i'm assuming cause I have alot of other aggresive fish in the tank that wouldnt leave them alone. So I moved the severums to the 60 alone and everytime I go in the room they are hiding like they are scared to death. After a week or two I put them back in the 150 and they layed eggs again within two days. Also recently got a Redtail Chelcius and a flagtail. Everytime I go into the room or near the tank they start bouncing off the walls. I dont get it.

This doesnt ever happen in my glass tank with no background. But it happens everytime with the acrylic tank with blue back almost everytime. If I take a fish from the acrylic tank and put it in the glass they arent scared anymore. My theory is the reflection from the solid back.

Yep, I fish would sometime try to fight himself from the background reflections.:D They don't freaked out like you described as long as the lighting on/off schedule is the same.

when i move fish from tank to tank, sometimes takes a few days for them to settle in. sometimes longer in a heavy traffic and lighted area

This is a consistant and continuous problem. Every fish I have put into this tank has freaked out and has stayed that way. Anytime I come into the room they either hide or smash themselves into the tank sides or decorations. I dont understand it and its very frustrating!
