I recently bought a 5" ornate for $33 is this a good deal?
when i added it to my tank i noticed that my two senegals started following the ornate around. now they always stick together and hunt in a pack. Is this normal?

what size are your sen's mine kind stay back from my ornate but he is about 10x there size and dominates my tank but i do notice my sen's schooling but if they are around the same size i could see them pack hunting.

then im not suprized at all that they get together and hunt what are you feeding? are they in a comunity tank or by them selves?

I have 2 ornates (15", 8-9") and 5 sens (8,7,7,6,5"), and they are far from schoolers. They don't fight or anything, but they always stay apart from each other. The only thing is that the ornates lay on each other under a piece of wood, but never go out together to eat or anything.

btw, my ornates were $50 at that size, so good deal to me.

$33 is a great price for my area (AZ). Bichirs don't "school" in the true sense of the word but I think most of us have experienced the "pile of bichirs" effect. The tend to stack up in whatever is the favored spot in the tank.
