Do brine shrimp eggs expire?

I found a small vial of brine shrimp eggs from when I was around 10 years old in the basement of my parent's place. They have been sitting there sealed for 12 years now. My roomie and I have never hatched brine shrimp before, preferring the easier frozen stuff but decided to give it a go. We set everything up as directed with our DIY hatchery but after 2 days there arent any bbs hatched yet. I know temp plays a big role in this though and the temp in the apartment is only about 70 celsius. Are the eggs bad now or is my temperature just low and they will hatch later?

If they were vacume sealed in a can they would be okay but otherwise they have absorbed atmospheric moisture by now and will no longer hatch. If you buy large cans of brine shrimp eggs, store the opened can in the freezer. This is the best & driest storage for me.

Your temp is a little low but eggs should start hatching in 24-36 hours. pH around 8 will also improve hatch rates.
