I have a unknown gender (assuming female) Midevil 7-8" and a male Jaguar 9-10" in a 125 g tank and like every other week they both take turns assuming the dominant role in the tank while the other hides in a corner or gets chased around by the dominant cichlid. Is this normal behavior?

it is pretty normal as red devil and jaguar are very aggressive species and any of them would like to be the boss so they will fight till one of them dies or became very shy and get damaged by the king of the tank so in my opinion the 10 inch jaguar will destroy your 8 inch red devil ( much more if the devil is a female ) you better divide them or keep them to see if they calm down and stay together in peace..
