so i have always known cichlids as killers and aggressive lil pint size sh%^* but i am starting to relize there is more 2 this. i say this because i have a lil 2 inch Madagascar i know not central but acts like one and he was with a jewel cichlid he killed the 4 inch jewel, so to add some more movement to the tank i added 15 zebra danios long fins and normals at first the Madagascar tried to eat one but he stoped for some reason and now the danios will school around him and i put it together..... there are certain fish that i think cichlids will attack and theres others they eat but i think there is a 3rd its not food but its not foe. they seem to use the danios as cover slash look outs because when ever the danios run the Madagascar also dissapers with them. but yet there are other times where the danios all go to the surface and litteraly are pileing out if the water in a tight school but yet the Madagascar doesn't attack like i would think. does any body else have comunity fish with there cichlids

so here is a pic to give u the idea fyi there is less then a inch between the madigascar and the danios so just so you can see the size difference. also sorry for the bad pic and reflection. i hate my cell phone pics

and when the danios will fit into it's mouth?

they do fit in his mouth u can see one about to swim into his mouth cant u tell that the danios are like the size of his tail fin some a bit larger. but if they get eatn good less polution in the tank i got the danios for 12 cents each so i dont really care if they get eaten

To be honest its not uncomon . Last month I had a 30 tall with 3 guppies 4 bleeding heart tetras and 2 pim pictus. It started with 3 male convicts after the dominant male beat the tar out the other two and they got moved. After they were moved he never attcked any other fish . He would chill with the pims in cave and when ever he came out he would swim around with the tetras never once attacked any of the community fish.
