Do Clown Knives HAVE to hide?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, gow big is your CK? Also giving your fish a place to feel safe will dramatically relieve your CK from stress. Which makes for a healthier, happier fish in the long run. I would at least put a clay plant pot in the corner so you can still see your CK but the little dudes got a secure spot to hang.

his ck is 13in., it says it in his signature.

Well, I'm gunna say to at least put a clay pot in the corner! It's kinda like being naked in a crowd......give him some clothes to feel alright....kinda selfish to wanna take his only hiding spot away for personal viewing pleasure. The CK's obviously hiding and now has nothing to hide behind. Let the little dude feel SAFE !

I removed all of the stuff that he could totally hide himself from me, and moved his "root", so the open back faces me. He seems to like it okay.
He is actually swimming around and being alot more nosey now.

He's fine. My Dat doesn't like him being so nosey, though.

CKs are ambush predators. They will naturally hide. It can be stressful for them if they don't have anywhere to hide.

IME they hide less with size. My smaller ones hid all the time but when they hit about 15" they're always out and about.

I have notice that he is alot more courageous now, even with some hiding spots left. But then again, he can't hide much longer, he's getting pretty good sized. It's amazing how graceful they can be when they actually get out and strut their stuff every now and then.
