Do clown plecos need specific wood?

I threw in a small piece of Canadian timber wood in my 10g for my clown pleco, is that ok or does it absolutely need african driftwood?

I don't remember if they are a panaque or a hypan. Brain fart if a panaque yes hypan no

Any soft drift wood is fine. Mopani drift is hard drift wood making hard to chew.
