I used to have a few convict pairs. Eventually I had to separate them because of aggression. I put my female into a 20 gallon and then back into my 55 when i got rid of the male. Now she doesn't have any orange on her belly like she used to. Either that or she died disappeared and one of her babies got bigger and i just never noticed. Thats why i am starting to believe its not her thats in my tank but one of her babies grew and she died.

Do the females lose their orange when they arent around other convicts for a while? I just put a smaller male in their and all she does it chase him.

Mine lost some of it's orange after breeding. But it came back when she was ready to breed again.

There is no orange at all. Her color is very light though. The new male is about an inch long and very dark. She is about 3 inches or so.

She isn't sick because the color has been gone a while. She is very active i just want to make sure they can actually lose their color for a while.
