do dels color up as they get older?

i saw a couple 5in dels at an lfs but their colors looked washed out and only had 2-3 stripes towards their tail is this normal will they become darker and get more stripes with age?

maybe different subtrate can make them darker and they will not get more stripes as they age

stripes will remain, but the intensity of the color will depend on the environment that they're at, mostly will be affected by the substrate.

extremely low chance they'll develop new stripes. as for their colouration, it depends alot on the background and bottom colours of the tank.
