Is this possible considering they're silver only? Do they get more shine or gloss to their scales? Some of their skin is patchy grey, will it be solid with better food? Just curious.
Actully yes foods can make a big diffrence in any fish's colors. Normaly meaty foods and you try to vary their diet as much as possible! I remember one MFKer on here had a very red/pink silver aro.... I just can't remember who he was... give me a while I might be able to find his pic of it.
I suppose if you fed prawns or shrimp to the aro he would gain some nice pink color. Flamingo's are pink because of what they eat. Maybe it will work with your fish.
I have three silvers (approx 16"-18"). Two of them have a tingie on their fins - very pretty. I do think that you can modify the color hues on the silver aros.
Probably same with Jars. When i got my jar it was really intense color - almost like a tiger. I have seen juveniles with quite dull coloration.
I dont know how or why on my 14" silver aro, his body is silver but the fins are in pinkish color.the aquarium light im using is a regular florescent daylight bulb (not that reddish one). His meals varies from fish fillets, shrimps, crickets and feeders.
