Hey. I bought a new tank and am filling it. I like the way it looks without gravel because the bottom of the tank with the wood stand is a light blue. Does my clownknive need gravel?

Nope, lots of people run bare bottom tanks. They are usually much easier to keep clean

Well for example geos need sand. It depends on the fish, but for the majority I'd say no.

I go with White15: "Well for example geos need sand. It depends on the fish, but for the majority I'd say no".

My own tanks are all sandybottom. All glass also has its beauty/unattractiveness. As in yours maybe, which is blue.

The tanks which houses planteaters would need no gravel, but have either geo's or filterfeeders in it.
Tanks without planteaters need gravel for rooting plants.
Seems there is no in between. :)
