Okay,okay, okay, it's been years since I've had fish so I'm starting over, but my school of head/tail light tetras have been exhibiting a very odd behavior.
Anyone remember "2001: A Space Odyssey"? Remember at the beginning when the ape men are worshipping the huge black monolith? Wayalll, I have a Stealth 250 wand-type heater installed vertically in the aquarium (maintain 78 degrees), and several times a day either all or a small group of these guys "worship" the wand!!!! They just hover in place, all facing it, for minutes at a time. Is it their monolith? Are they asking for more heat? Or less heat? Or thanking the Stealth god for the heat? They don't go for the filter or the airstone!! Not even the plants!? Maybe they should be on David Letterman, or Ellen, or some other show (Stoopid Pet Tricks?) I am really baking over this (not really). I know fish may have evolved since I was a wee lassy, but gettin' religion?! Any ideas? (well, this is the "bible belt" LOL) :idea: :headbang2

That's probably your fish's way of telling you the heater isn't strong enough to warm the entire tank. For your own well-being, I would quit trying to anthropomorpize the behavior of your fish. If you don't, it's just a short stroll to telling someone of authority; "But, my fish told me to do it."

LOL Princely--I'll be sure to let you know first!! The fish play all over the tank for most of the time,and hover from varying distances, thus my curiosity or "anthropomorphising" their behavior LOL. When starting, I gradually increased temp until they were no longer attached to the wand and journeyed the entire tank.
Just a humorous observation of some fascinating little critters. I much prefer them over the Monster Teenagers at work right now--like to feed them to one of those really big Monster Fish, but they're UNCLEAN (the kids). Thanks for feedback. Oddball, I'd check in on my meds if I were you--we still can't reach 25K lightyears from ANY galactic core LOL. But, then, I have that on authority from my dog. :woot:
 
You wouldn't want to feed teenagers to most fish...mammal meat has a lot of fat and can build up in the fish's liver.
