Do Flowerhorns grow at a slow rate?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Jags grow quite quickly. So that kind of growth is normal. I don't know much about FH, but I believe that growth rate will be determined by what type of Flowerhorn you have. FH are bred to display different traits. You will have better answers in the Flowerhorn section. Ask a moderator to move this thread for you.

Normal yes. i have a little flowerhorn in my 125g with my monsters and hes the only one that has grown even a cm. dominance is also a big role on which fish is gonna grow the fastest.

jags grow faster then slow down. flowerhorns reach max length in about 1.5-2 years when jags stop growing in 2-5 years well that how my jags grew.

it depends on wat fh u hav..whether it is a high quality fh..secondly wats ur tank size?does the tank hav any fish other than the jag and fh?..if it does not hav other fish then does the jag beat up the fh regularly?..frankly it is quite impossible for the diff in growth to be that much if it is a real fh..pics will help.

Most likely Wat is going on is the FH is not eating as much as the jag...might be a female FH which are smaller and less aggressive when young....I would try to put FH byitself for a lil while get it growing good then trow them together....or get a divider

I agree female fh's grow at very much slower rate. From raising some juvies in a 125 gal. My males I'm assuming grew almost an inch a month. After 6 months they started growing extremely slow though. But they were the dominant ones in my tank. Could be female. I'm not sure of different strains though as I only had ZZ's at the time.
