So as some will know, I have a 6 Foot tank with a young EBJD in. Just over 3 inches currently and I believe male (although still not 100%). It's in there with just a bunch of platys as ditchers and a BN.

I'd be interested in breeding the EBJD as it gets older. So was thinking of adding 3 or 4 normal JDs now. Ideally smaller than the EBJD so it stays dominant.

My logic was I (they) would then be able to pick a suitable match from the JDs, to pair with the EBJD as they all grow. Is this a good idea or would it be a disaster? At what size could I expect a pair to form and be sexually active? I'd then remove the others of course. Opinions?

This plan is logical.

just be prepared to act quickly in re-homing any unwanted/trouble makers. Sometimes you get attached to fish and don’t want to see them go but remember who the star of your tank is and it’s easier haha don’t play the wait and see game. Especially if your adding regular jd females....people are always re-homing jacks so they should be fairly easy to find at different sizes
