So I have had my tank for 3 yrs now and never had any issues till I decided to test my water and seems I have a tiny bit of ammonia nothing has changed in the tank except the growth of the fish....actually I lied lol I ended up taking the canisters off my tank and went to a sump setup BUT I use all my old media as well as added the extra I had laying around I couldn't fit in the canisters, as well as the fact it has been a month or two since I've added/changed to the sump on the tank. When I say a bit of ammonia I mean like between 0 and .25ppm very very little but I don't like to see anything in my tank ever.

So that being said should I look at getting more go media for the sump ?

Well, base on your information then you probably over stocked your tank and your sump couldn't keep up, try to feed less and skip feeding 1 time a week would help a lot too (also it's good for your fishes too).

More is better if it fits use it IMO. Maybe cut back on feeding a little and increase the % of water changed in the tank, that should help get rid of it. I don't know the size of your tank or the fish and how many of what you have but generaly speaking this should help regardless.

Ah ok yea I could likely fit a lot more media in my sump prolly like another 8-10 litres lol and this week I have fed a bit more then I normally do, guess I cut back to once a week feedings for these guys and see how it is then.

I guess figured more media for BB the better and etc. But I will try that though and see :-)

If you're testing with an API kit then it might just be a bit of off-coloration. The difference between 0 and 0.25 can be difficult to discern, especially when testing in saltwater. Try testing tap water (if free of chloramines) or water from another tank to use as a blank. If it reads the same thing then it's just your test.

Yep API master kit indeed yes color is very close from zero to .25ppm hence why I said the amount of ammonia is VERY little to nonexistent
