Ok here's my problem... Do i upgrade my sump from my current 20 gal wet dry or change it out with my DIY 40 gal sump. ??

I have a 300 gal tank with the following filtration..
2x FX5's, all 3 trays filled with ceramic bio rings on both FX5's
1x 20 gal wet dry, with 1017gph quiet one 4000 pump, 20lbs of crushed coral and 5 gallon bucket full of bio rings
1x Lifeguard FB300 Bed filter, with 296gph quiet one 1200 pump, sand media..
2x Sponge filters, with 2 Azoo back up battery air pumps
1x Air disc, with Whisper 60 air pump

My DIY sump is a acrylic 40 gal made into a sump, and i already bought a brand new Quiet one 6000 1500gph pump to run it..

Let me know what you would do..:)

Forgot to add all my water perams are good with no issues, and here's my stock list..

Stock List:
19x Geo sp Orange Head

7x Geo sp Altifron
2x Geo sp Abalios
2x Satanoperca Daemon
1x 30”Black Arowana
2x Red Severum
8x F0 Synodontis Multipunctatus
2x Bushynose Pleco (Breeding pair)

Anyone ??

I really don't know but thought I'd give a free bump and remind you of the old saying if ain't broke don't fix it. If your water parameters are were there suppose to be and your water looks good I wouldn't mess with it.

If upgrading means easier maintenance then go for it. Otherwise, there's really no point as long as you already have perfect water parameters.

Had to look at your stock list twice.
With all that bio media I really expected to see a small herd of buffalo listed.
Your going to swap out the sump.
That is why you built the 40, right?
I`m thinking part of the fun for you is dinking around with the mechanicals.
Me too.
Go ahead, do it.

Yea, i've always heard bigger is better and the more bio and turnover the better..;) So i just figured i'd upgrade the sump size and double it, and add a new pump with more turnover....:screwy:

You're right i just can't help myself, i just have to tinker with stuff, i think my next job will be my drip system..:)

Go ahead and tinker! If you're like me, you'll F it up and be all pissed off and then you'll end up tinkering some more and be happy in the long run!
