Do I have a giant gourami here?

to me it looks just like a dwarf, but i wouldn't know the difference so dont take this as a for sure.
What you have there is what most stores call a giant gourami, which is a dwarf gourami. True giant gouramis are Osphroemus.
That is not a true GG. That is also not a DG either. What you have there is a Banded Gourami. Most pet store sell them as GG, but they are not not true giants. Will reach about 4-5 inches. Check out the link and here are some pics.

They both are very nice fish. The banded gourami looks like the dwaf gourami only bigger. I have 2 of them in my plant tank.

C. fasciata is still a fun fish. most gouramis, no matter what size, seem to grow on people and you can often see them "reaching" for you with their "feelers"/pelvic fins. They're very cute
