From 5in to 7" and 9". the smaller one has his external grills still. is that normal or is he/she a oddball? pictures will be posted once i can get it out of hiding.

Any Polypterus with a grill should be considered an oddball, even more so if they start cooking their food before they eat it!! But yeah, seems a little large to have external gills, but they do vary I guess. Post some pics!
