I currently have two 42" T8 32W shop lights on my 125 gallon (two 32W bulbs per light, so four 32W bulbs total) with 2 Amazon swords and two Saggitaria Chilensis. All plants are around 10-12" tall. Is this strong enough lighting?? I just got the plants a little under a week ago so It hasnt really been long enough to tell if its enough light/not enough light by the looks of the plants. However, I did clean the tank yesterday and I moved the swords around and they looked to have a good amount of new root growth.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

1.02 watt per gallon probably wont be enough for the swords unless the tank is really shallow. I dont know anything about your other plants...

4 x 32w = 128 watts over a 55g tank.

You have plenty of wattage for your med/low light plants. Just make sure the bulbs are the correct kelvin rating. 6700k would be ideal but anywhere from 6000k-8000k will work fine. GE daylight bulbs are 6500k rating and work great. I have them in a few planted set ups doing great.

opps

125g not 55g lol

But as long as you have the correct K rating bulbs your 1 watt per gallon will still grow quite a bit.

They are GE bulbs but I just looked and they are only 4100k it says on the bulbs themselves.

Does lowes/home depot sell 6500+k rated bulbs?

i was growing medium light stem plants like crazy in my 120 72x18x24 with 6x32w bulbs.

what is the dimensions of your 125?

Dimensions are 72 x 18 x 24

apparently the same as you LOL

Edit:

just went to lowes and got 4, "daytime 6500k lights" and WOW, what a difference they made.
