This is George (personally I'm leaning towards "georgina") I bought him?her? yest at the LPS. He had been tempting me for weeks and I finally caved.
It was an adventure from the start. The LPS had no net big enough, and nothing to put him in but a big rubbermaid tub. Well, we get him home, and get him in a tank by himself other than a Pleco. After he calmed down we measured, he is 18 inches long. The LPS had been feeding him feeder fish and smaller aquadine. I have expirimented a bit, and discovered that he loves beef heart, pineapple, mealworms and Earthworms, but he is turning his nose up at strawberries, bananas, and any kind of pellet type food.
Does anyone have any ideas? I can't just feed him Beef heart and worms all the time!!

it will take time, but he should come around with patience. put a fish in his tank that eats pellets, if you have one and once he sees this he will go for them eventually-this is bulletproof and the fastest way to get the job done other than starving-trust me

The problem is that the one fish I have that I could put in with him is a 6 inch Oscar, and he (The GG) has already started picking on the 8 inch Pleco!

that doesnt sound too good. i guess you should try starving then, which believe me, i only use as a last resort. if he gets to pick on the plec too much separate them

Careful, from what I've seen, GG have a tendency to go for the eyes of tankmates they don't like. :(
