Do I have to dose iodine for freshwater inverts?

I was at a friend's house (he has a 600 reef) and he said that inverts in saltwater need iodine. So, that got me wondering, do freshwater inverts need iodine to grow there exoskeletons?

All aquarium inhabitants require iodine in one way or another. Inverts require iodine to aid in molting and regenerating their exoskeleton after molts. I use regular pharmacy iodine and dose my crays at 2 ppm. That's approximately 1 drop per 10 gals of water. I haven't had any molt issues with this dosing even when I have 150 growout crays in one of the 450gal bins.
