ok so i was looking on craigslist for a turtle setup. this turtle tank is a 20 gallon tank with lights and all. it comes with a 2 year old red bellied turtle. i am about to get my 110 gallon this weekend. the turtles 9 inches long. do i save the poor thing from living the rest of its life in a 20 gallon tank? my only problem is they live for so long! if anyone is interested ill let you take it off my hands. i think im gunna get it. but now im giving up my dream native tank for a turtle in need! anyone can take it off my hands. go ahead! haha ill post pics next week i gatta get the thing im in vermont right now on vacation.
any thoughts? do i do it?or not?

you can still do natives with the turtle, just lower the water level about 6 inches and silicone one of the turtle ramps on(the magnets or suction cups dont work)

Or you can add a screen extender top on top of the tank, so that you don't lose any water volume, but he can't get out while on a basking platform.

And you could still do natives. Just avoid anything really slow or sedentary that the RES might try to eat.

so you think its a good idea? i really didnt want to do it because its a huge turtle and can live forever. but i dont want it to live its life in a 20 gallon tank... i might do it. any other thoughts?

i have used the suction cup ones and have never had them come off the walls.
