I'm treating my 100g tank for popeye and tail/fin rot. I'm using salt, melafix and maracel plus.

If I keep the UV sterilizer on, will it kill the good organisms in the medicine?
I know my tank has a bacteria problem so I thought keeping it on might help but now I'm not sure.

UV sterilizers must be turned off during treatments. The UV light can cause the chemicals in the melafix and maracel to either altered or outright destroyed.

There aren't any organisms in the medicine, but the medicine molecules can be damaged by the shortwave radiation.

Yep, I was told to keep it off and be sure to remove your carbons in the filter if you have any.
