I am having trouble with the ammonia levels in my tank. I have 4 fish, all between 2-2 1/2 inches long, in a 10 gallon tank with a wisper 5-15. Would getting a wisper 30 help me control my ammonia levels? I would like to keep my tank as chemical free as possible and thought this might help. Any other suggestions are welcome.

:) Thanks :)

How long has it been set up?

either you're doing something to kill off the bacteria in the filter or you need a bigger one.

Increased filtration always helps. If you don't want to use chemical. You could do water changes more frequently? Good luck

Not always IMO. I think over filtration is a waste of power.

Does your whisper filter have a sponge in it? If it does are you cleaning it with tap water? Do you know where in your filter the beneficial bacteria is growing?

charcoal rocks, i believe, in a white pouch. As for the filter it's good(I change it often). I dont know about beneficial bacteria, there doesnt seem to be anything in there(filter).

I do a 10% water change everyday, and i was told more than that daily isnt that healthy(causes stress). I should have mentioned that in the begining of the thread. Any other thoughts please let me know.:D Thank you :D

we were having an amonia problem in one of our tanks, come to find out the water changes were the problem, not the cure. the water we were using to do the water changes had high levels of amonia in it already..

test your water and test the "clean" water you are putting in when you do water changes. Now i have to go to a water store and buy water to do water changes.

other than that, increase your biofiltration..
