i want to get a betta cube, for a siamese fighting fish. i will only keep one fish, do i need a tank heater for it? my house is pretty warm most of the time, and i would leave the water to come to room temp before putting the fish in to it

2 problems with that- firstly, i am in the uk, so not sure if i can get that here, and secondly it says it is for a 5-10 gallon tank, and the betta cube is 0.3 gallons

in which case set the temp of the heater a little lower and will therefore maintain the desired temp, and 0.3 gallons is a little small for a living animal i wouldnt keep a beta in such a tiny environment although it can be done

I think keeping any fish in a 5 gallon tank is cruel, let alone a 0.3 gallon. The minimum tank size I would buy for any fish is a 20 gallon. Maybe a 10 for raising fry but that's it. I'm not judging you or anything, that's just my opinion.

But anyway to answer your question yes you will need a heater. Although the betta will live without one he won't be very comfortable.

i already have a 25 gallon tank, but the experts say that this is too big for a betta, and they like slow or non moving water and i have quite a powerful filter and air pump in mine. the tank i am looking at is specifically for betta's because apparently they dont need a lot of room and can be scared in a bigger tank. the other option i have is a 1.5 gallon tank, but still need a heater. i intend keeping the betta on his own.

The betta will be fine in a 25. I have two bettas in my 40. Keeping a betta in a bowl or 1.5 gallon tank is a good way to kill it. The ammonia and nitrite will build up and it will die.

That doesn't mean there will be enough bacteria in that small space to process all the poo and un-eaten food. Bettas can and will live long happy lives in community tanks. My 40 has like 14 tetras and a bunch of guppys and the bettas are fine. And yes both are male and no they do not fight.

ok, well in that case, do i need a bigger tank so i can get a betta for my community? i currently have 4 dalmation mollies, 4 cory's, 3 lyretail guppies, 2 red honey gourami, and 5 baby cherry barbs. it is a 96 litre tank
