I have a 55 gallon tank, I will have a Hot Magnum 250 canister filter running, would that be enough circulation for oxygen or would I need a powerhead or air pump?

air pumps are always good :)
i have 2pumps running 4 bubble wands in my sump and 1pump running a 5inch round stone in my tank for looks

your good, but "I" would do a bubble disk on one end, just to move water to the top....That's just me. i like to use air bubble's, just to move water.

:iagree::iagree:

I do not like bubbles in the tank so i use power heads.

if your spray bar is rippling the surface it will put more oxygen in the water then a air pump ive been told

agreed....but it is still not stirring up the bottom....I like bubbles just to circulate the bottom water to the top, on the other side of the the tank that the canister can't reach. but a power head can do that to...it all depends on your budget.

Bro...your Hot Magnum 250 canister is more than enough for your filtration and oxygen supply. One equipment you can add is an independent wave maker to help cycled the water inside your fish tank to take out the residue that accumulate in the bottom of your tank.

I don't like all the surface movement of air pumps (planted tanks), so I go with powerheads pointed at dead spots on the bottom, and for the most part I only have a few of those.
