I'm setting up my first tank, a 120g cichlid tank. It has a wet/dry already on it. I also have a magnum 350 and a AC110 to use. With these filter, will I still need a powerhead and if I do how many gph should it handle?
I like having powerheads in tanks for extra surface agitation. If you have the outputs positioned so they move the surface of the water good then you should be fine.
Does it matter where I position the inflow/outflow on the wet/dry and canister? I've read several ways of doing it. Some say put both inflows on 1 side and put both outflows on the opposite side. AC110 in the middle. OR put the outflows on either end of the tank and the inflows in the center. . .near the ac110. Is there any "right" way to set it up?
no "right and wrong" to it.. putting the "in" pointing directly at the "out" may not be the most efficient setup but its not "wrong"..
"in" on one side of the tank and "out" on the other is the general standard..
as long as there is water movement in the tank theres not really any such thing as "dead spots".. however there will always be places where stuff "swirs" or "settles".. thats where powerheads come in..
