the one im looking at is a aquaclear 3000 powerhead which produces 1100 litres per hour, im running a eheim thermo filter 2128 on a 7ft x 2.5ft high x 18" wide tank, will i need a powerhead to help circulate the water better or will the eheim filter do it ok by itself?

Yeah I would space out your intakes and outlet as much as possible and look for any dead spots put the power head pointed at the area and add a snap on filter to your power head 
You could always add one on each corner for superb flow.It is a damn long tank sounds neat please post pics. Nice eheim btw!

thanks, i upgraded to this from a 4ft. i only paid £350 for this and it came with an eheim filter.
