IMG_0902.JPG Do I need center braces? Tank length is 50"x30"x24" but stand is 52". Wet dry underneath is 48" long. I want to be able to pull the sump from the side but space is tight so I would have to do it through the front if the braces center brace wasn't there. Center braces are not screwed yet.

Does the tank have a frame? Is there any way to add some angle iron across the front span under the 2 by 4 ?
I think you would probably be okay but if you could reinforce the span it would be safer.

Yeah if you have space to double up on the 2x4 you could do that.
If it were mine I probably wouldn't do anything to be honest. Most of the weight will be supported by the vertical legs.

Tank is acrylic so no frame. Did you mean an angle bracket or an actual beam runner ng across the span? Do you have a link about what you're talking about?

When you say double up do you mean the vertical posts or the horizontal?

With the angle iron I was referring to running it under the 2x4 across the length in the front to stiffen the span. You would have to make sure it was supported by the legs.

Same thing with adding another 2x4 just double them up in the front and screw them together to strengthen the span.
Effectively making the front beam across a 4x4
I would say either one would work.
