do you think bigger mbu/fahaka needs to eat a 'thicker/harder' shells foods to keep their teeth from overgrowth? is it like the harder their teeth, then the harder the shells they need to eat? what do you guys think?

just feel him out with snails first then as he grow make his food harder that what i do with mine i started with the small snails and went up from there to clams but even with the clams i put the smaller clams first and if he cracked them open easy i go bigger cuz i knew his teeth didnt get the work out they needed this is what is in his diet

Thanks for the reply, I feed mine with apple/golden snails and cray fishes, but I just feel that their shells are not hard enough for my mbu. So I guess I will now hunt for more clams for my mbu.

Both the foods you are feeding are excellent for their teeth. Variety is the key to puffer feeding though.
