I have a small indo dat. Have had it for a cpl months now. It was housed with 3 Geos, 3 Threadfin Acara, 2 Silver Dollars, a cpl Bichirs and a cpl plecos. During this time the Dat was very stable, eating well, chasing the Geos and Threadfins if they got to close to its territory.....then 3 weeks ago I got a small ray. To reduce the bioload, I got rid of all the other fish except the Dat. So now in my 125, I have the Dat and the Ray. My water has not changed, except for the better, as I do more frequent water changes due to the demands of the Ray. Ammon=0, Nitrite=0, Nitrate=20ppm or less but never above. pH=6.5 and temp is a constant 80.
The Dat still eats well but now is very washed out and unstable and constantly hiding...seems much more skiddish than it used to be....
Any ideas why this could be? The ray shows no interest in the Dat whatsoever.

Hello m8.

Indos can have a habit of doing that. They can go unstable
When ever they want.
By removing all other fish, it's a bit stressed and feels less safe with no fish in tank.
Give it several weeks, the washed out colour will hopefully return to gold and black.
Good it's still eating.

it is becasue u got rid of all the other fish. first the dat protected his territory from them so that made it more active and second dats do better with dither fish i guess they feel a bit more safe with more fish
