Planning to setup my 250 gallon tank this month. It was fully setup last year and did not leak at any time. I move last year and had to take it down and stored it in my garage. Its been sitting in my garage since April of last year and now I finally have the time to get it setup. I was wondering if the heat or cold during the summer and winter cause my tank's silicone to crack or weaken. I live in Dallas, TX so it gets a little hot during the summer. Pretty much 1 month of 100 degree heat. Not once was my tank expose to direct sunlight. What you guys think, reseal or goes as is?

most likely no but why don't you just test fill it in the garage prior to setting it up?

I would inspect it and make that call. If the silicone looks like it's dry rotted, cracking, peeling then I would reseal it. If it looks like it's in good shape and has no defects I would just go as is. It's a judgement call. You could always test fill it outside and check for leaks or you can reseal it just to be safe. IMO if it isn't broken don't fix it..

Poke the silicone with your fingernail, if it's still soft and resiliant then it should be good to go. If it peels or flakes, or feels hard then strip it all out and re-seal.
